On All The Oceans Where Whitecaps Flow

by: Author Unknown,

"On all the oceans where whitecaps flow,

There are no crosses, row on row;

But those who sleep beneath the sea,

sleep in peace...your country is free".

The Final Inspection

by: Author Unknown,

The soldier stood and faced his God

Which must always come to pass

He hoped his shoes were shining

Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,

How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and

said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't

Because those of us who carry guns

Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays

And at times my talk was tough,

And sometimes I've been violent,

Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny

That wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime

When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help,

Though at times I shook with fear,

And sometimes, God forgive me,

I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place

Among the people here,

They never wanted me around

Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,

It needn't be so grand,

I never expected or had too much,

But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne

Where the saints had often trod

As the soldier waited quietly,

For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now, you soldier,

You've borne your burdens well,

Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,

You've done your time in Hell."

A Gunner's Vow

by: Author Unknown,

I wish to be a pilot

And you along with me,

But if we all were pilots,

Where would the Air Force be?

It takes guts to be a gunner;

To sit out in the tail,

When the Messerschmitts are coming,

And the slugs begin to wail,

The pilot's just a chauffeur,

It's his job to fly the plane,

But it's we who do the fighting

Though we may not get the fame,

If we all must be gunners,

Then let us make this bet --

We'll be the best damned gunners,

Who have left this station yet

For You Der Var Ist Over

by: Author Unknown,

When your bombs are gone

And the course your're on

Promises a view of Dover

You'll get a surprise

When you realize

"For You Der Var ist Over"
When your chute slaps your back

With a jerk and a smack

As you light on the verdant clover

You feel with dismay

That starting this day

"For You Der Var ist Over"
As you march thru town

With an uneasy frown

Cause the guard has folks in Hanover

You get the idea

hat in this area

"For You Der Var Ist Over"
When the harmless Flak

Breaks your "Libs" back

No longer a skyward rover

And you’re hearing them say

In their guttural way

"For You Der Var ist Over"
Then when you're a Kriegie

And no longer free

When you would like to be a rover

You look for the date

When they will open the gate

And the damn Var ist Really Over!

As Flak Goes By

by: Author Unknown,

You must remember this

That flak don't always miss

And one of you may die.

The fundamental thing applies

As flak goes by...
And when the fighters come

You hope you're not the one

To tumble from the sky

The odds are always too damned high

As flak goes by...
110's and 210's knocking at your gate

Come on you jokers, come on kill that rate

And should a bomb hang, salvo don't wait

The target's passing by...
It's still the same old story

A tale that's too damned gory

Some brave men have to die

The odds are always high

As flak goes by.

Kriegsgafangen Kelly

by: Author Unknown,

Kelly get your barracks bag,

The shipping list is here.

We're sailing on the first tide,

For home of yesteryear.
But Kelly strained no muscle

To join the homing flocks.

He was packed before a tiny stove,

Beside a Red Cross Box.
Kelly, we are sailing

The bitter war is done.

We are off to the USA

To sweethearts and to fun.
But Kelly turned a deaf ear

His stubbornness he kept."

I should sail for anywhere"

"With all these groceries left".
It's a sad sad tale they tell these days

Along the bowery streets.

Of Kriegsgafangen Kelly

And his parcel full of meats.
Some men love adventure

And some love curly locks,

But Kriegsgafangen Kelly

Loved his faithful Red Cross Box.

I Do Not Define Myself

by: Author Unknown,

I do not define myself by how many roadblocks have appeared in my path; but by the courage I have found to forge new roads.

I do not define myself by by how many disappoints I have faced; but by the forgiveness and faith I have found to begin again.

I do not define myself by how long a relationship last; but by how I have loved and have been willing to love again.

I do not define myself by how many times I have been knocked down; but by how many times I have struggled to my feet.

I do not define myself by I have appeared a fool; but by the number of risks I have taken.

I do not define byself by the number of mistakes I have made; but by the knowledge I have learned from trying a new way.

I am not my pain...I am not my past. I am that which has emerged.

"Fiddlers' Green"

by: Author Unknown,

Mid 1800s

Halfway down the trail to Hell,
In a shady meadow green
Are the Souls of all dead troopers camped,
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddlers' Green.
Marching past, straight through to Hell
The Infantry are seen. Accompanied by the Engineers,
Artillery and Marines,
For none but the shades of Cavalrymen
Dismount at Fiddlers' Green.
Though some go curving down the trail
To seek a warmer scene.
No trooper ever gets to Hell
Ere he's emptied his canteen.
And so rides back to drink again
With friends at Fiddlers' Green.
And so when man and horse go down
Beneath a saber keen,
Or in a roaring charge of fierce melee
You stop a bullet clean,
And the hostiles come to get your scalp,
Just empty your canteen,
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddlers' Green.
Note: Fiddlers' Green was believed to
have originated in the 1800s as a song sung by the Irish
soldiers of the 7th Cavalry.

I Need You

by: Author Unknown,

DO NOT ASK ME TO REMEMBER,

DO NOT TRY TO MAKE ME UNDERSTAND,,,

LET ME REST AND KNOW YOU'RE WITH ME,

KISS MY CHEEK AND HOLD MY HAND...

I'M CONFUSED BEYOND YOUR CONCEPT,

I AM SAD AND SICK AND LOST....

ALL I KNOW IS THAT...I NEED YOU,,,

TO BE WITH ME AT ALL COST,

DO NOT LOSE YOUR PATIENCE WITH ME,

DO NOT SCOLD OR CURSE OR CRY,,,

I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I'M ACTING,

CAN'T BE DIFFERENT, THOUGH I TRY,

JUST REMEMBER THAT I NEED YOU,

THAT THE BEST OF ME IS GONE,

PLEASE DON'T FAIL TO STAND BESIDE ME...

JUST LOVE ME TILL MY LIFE IS DONE....

My First Christmas in Heaven

by: Author Unknown,

I see the countless Christmas trees

Around the world below

With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,

Reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular

Please wipe away the tear

For I am spending Christmas with

Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs

That people hold so dear

But the sounds of music can't compare

With the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you

The joy their voices bring

For it is beyond description

To hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me,

I see the pain inside your heart

But I am not so far away

We really aren't apart.

So be happy for me, dear ones,You know

I hold you dear.

And be glad I'm spending Christmas

With Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift

Form my heavenly home above

I sent you each a memory

Of my undying love.

After all, love is a gift more precious

Then pure gold.

It was always most important

In the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other

As my Father said to do

For I can't count the blessing or love

He has for each of you.

So have a Merry Christmas and

Wipe away the tear.

Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

LETTING GO TAKES LOVE

by: Author Unknown,

To let go does not mean to stop caring,

it means I can't do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off,

it's the realization I can't control another.

To let go is not to enable,

but allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness,

which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another,

it's to make the most of myself.

To let go is not to care for,

but to care about.

To let go is not to fix,

but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge,

but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,

but to allow others to affect their destinies.

To let go is not to be protective,

it's to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny,

but to accept.

To let go is not to nag, scold or argue,

but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,

but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.

To let go is not to criticize or regulate anybody,

but to try to become what I dream I can be.

To let go is not to regret the past,

but to grow and live for the future.

To let go is to fear less and love more

Remember: The time to love is short

The Rose

by: Author Unknown,

It is only a tiny rosebud–

A flower of God’s design;

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I–

The flower God opens so sweetly

In my hands would fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud

This flower of God’s design,

Then how can I think I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?
So I’ll trust in Him for His leading

Each moment of every day,

And I’ll look to Him for His guidance

Each step of the pilgrims’ way.
For the pathway that lies before me

My heavenly Father knows–

I’ll trust in Him to unfold the moments

Just as He unfolds the rose.

Never

by: Author Unknown,

What the heart has once owned and had, It shall never lose.

In My Arms

by: Author Unknown

Some people dream of angels. I've held one in my arms.

I've Seen

by: Author Unknown,

My baby brother is not here yet, I've seen him in pictures, but we've never met.
I've seen all his toes on both his feet. I cannot wait until the day we meet.
I've seen his eyes, his nose, and his mouth, and a little something toward the south.
I've seen his arms, legs, and belly too, just three more months until he is due.
I've seen the connections with the umbilical cord the way he lies there-he must be bored!
I've heard the sound of his heart....beating fast, I cannot wait till we meet at last.
I've even felt him move inside of my mother, I cannot wait to meet my baby brother.

Lullabies

by: Author Unknown,

Daddy please don`t look so sad, Mommy please don`t cry.

I am in the arms of Jesus and He sings me lullabies.

Please do not try to question God,don`t think He is unkind.

Don`t think He sent me to you and that He changed His mind.

You see, I am special and I`m needed up above.

I`m the special child you gave Him,the product of your love.

I`ll always be there with you.

So watch the sky at night. Find the brightest star that`s gleaming

.That`s my halo`s brilliant light.

So Daddy please don`t look so sad.

Mommy please don`t cry.

I am in the arms of Jesus.

And He sings me lullabies.

I Am

by: Author Unknown,

Do not stand at my grave and weep.

I am not there.

I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that swiftly blow.

I am the diamond glint on newly fallen snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the soft and gentle autumn rain.
When you wake from sleep in the early morning hush,

I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft, starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.

I am not there. I do not sleep.

Can't Steal

by: Author Unknown,

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal . . .

Love leaves a memory no one can steal
